Parramatta answers Pope's call for unborn child vigil

Vigil for Nascent Human Life News Story

The Catholic Diocese of Parramatta has answered Pope Benedict XVI's call for a worldwide vigil for the unborn child with a vigil to be held in St Patrick's Cathedral on Saturday 27 November.

Catholic News Service reports that the Holy Father has called for the worldwide Vigil for Nascent Human Life on the eve of the first Sunday of Advent in order to pray for the unborn and their parents, for an end to abortion and research that destroys embryos, and recognition of the dignity of every human life.

"The season of preparation for Christmas is an appropriate time for invoking divine protection over every human being called into existence and for thanking God for the gift of life we received from our parents," Pope Benedict XVI said.
