Redemptorist Priest to head up Mission and Pastoral Services in CCSS

CatholicCare Social Services -Diocese of Parramatta (CCSS) Executive Director (Mr Otto Henfling) announced today that Fr Phil Medlin C.Ss.R will head up the new Mission and Pastoral Services unit within CCSS.

Mission and Pastoral Services (MaPS) will be responsible for ensuring that the work of CCSS is guided by the Gospel and its message of love and charity. MaPS will also be responsible for facilitating chaplaincy services to CCSS staff, volunteers and client groups.

Fr Phil Medlin is a very experienced priest and recently celebrated his 50th year as a member of the Redemptorist Order. “CCSS is very fortunate to have someone of Fr Phil’s calibre available to take on this important role within CCSS” Mr Henfling said.

Mr Henfling said “CCSS is focussed on delivering its programmes and services to the entire community with no regard for the creed or ethnicity of its service users. Nonetheless, it is important that its staff and volunteers understand the connection between the work we do and the message of Gospel and the Church to ensure the service we provide is of the highest quality and connected to the rest of the work of the Church in the Diocese of Parramatta. This will be the focus of Fr Phil as he heads up the Mission and Pastoral Services unit.”

Fr Phil has been the Senior Manager for Aboriginal and Community Building within CCSS and he leaves that role to take up his new position. An announcement will be made soon regarding Fr Phil’s replacement as Senior Manager Aboriginal and Community Building.
