Five social work students from the Australian Catholic University are undertaking their practical fieldwork placements at CatholicCare Social Services – Parramatta.

Jenni is at our Parramatta branch and provides intake and some case work services in the Work and Development program. Nicole is working principally with volunteers and elderly clients in our Blacktown Neighbour Aid Service. Adam is working in the Responsible Gambling Service at Blacktown branch. Madeleine is assisting in the Relationship Education services and intake for the counselling services. Diez is undertaking research on homelessness and also on services for Aboriginal people in our Diocese.

“This is the first time we have run a student unit at CCSS and we are gaining great benefits from the work they are doing and the fresh ideas they bring in” commented Ann O’Brien (Senior Manager – Counselling and Education Portfolio) who is supervising the student unit with assistance from Maree Delaney from the School of Social Work of the Australian Catholic University.
